I have 98 cherokee 4.0 4x4 with 3.5 lift on 33" tires. After fixing my broken rear drive shaft bearing, worn front drive shaft bearings, and replacing my front axle joints, I found out my rear drive shaft was so long, the jeep had to be jacked, the diff had to be jacked downward, and a crowbar had to be used to remove it.
Fixed it all, got a smaller shaft. Drove off the lot for 2min and a check engine light comes on.
I FINALLY GOT CODES, but none explain the bogging from I mentioned in a different post.
Ya it could be the solenoid or the wiring and it could be the computer . start with checking the wiring and plugs for the trans and computer . then ohm the torque converter solenoid .
As Dr Gregory House always said, it's never the computer (or was that lupus?). It's likely the solenoid or wiring, and very rarely the computer itself. You can measure the resistance at the connector on the passenger side of the firewall. Should be 11-15 ohms.
