Default TRANSMISSION?

ok i got a 90 xj straight 6. my tranny started not shifting then eventualy would shift out of first gear at about 5000 rpm and i know the auto 4 speeds are not soposed to do that. so i drained the fluied and found a bit of mud and water so i put new fluid in no luck so i bought i used tranny and slapped it in. now the truck would be in 4rth gear by 10 mph so i figured maybe the kickdown cable or somthing needed adjustment..so yesterday i purple powered my motor and washed all the mud away and now the new tranny will not shift out of 1rst anymore unless it hits about 5000 rpms..the first tranny also died after washing my motor but i do not see how that would effect my tranny? please any input would help thanks guys

I'm pretty sure the tranny is electrically controlled. Maybe the harness leading to the shift solenoids? Just throwin' it out there.

Any CEL?

Get the controllor from the jeep you got the second tranny from and swap them out to see if you have any change.

Solenoids are in side the tranny pan your harness doesn't go directily to them.

yes solenoids are in the trans under the filter.. And the harness does go inside and connect to the solenoids..

If you have a CEL pull the codes and let us know what they are.. im working on my trans right now.. so i might be of some help.. What other symptoms are you experiencing?
