Default Transfer case swap?

i have a 91 cherokee limited with the np242 selec-trac transfer case. Im in the process of changing over to a long arm set up but the kit im looking at only can be used with the np231 command trac case. Anyone know if the swap can be done?

Yes as long as it has a 23 spline input shaft, does it say why you cannot use the 242?

i have never heard of a LA not working with a NP242.

my only complaint about the 242 is the lack of direct aftermarket support.

Find a 231 out of a 91 or newer xj with the same tranny as you and you;ll be fine.

I am curious which Long Arm kit are you looking at? I don't think I would swap the t-case, I would look for a different long arm kit.

Well, if your "kit" comes with an adpater for the t-case, you just need a different one for the linkage. Or if you have an SYE, they are different between the 231 and the 242. Maybe a link to the site where your kit is?

im not sure the kit is from rough country it just had a side note about the selec trac tranny not being compatable only the np231. I think it might be a clearance issue because of the new frame mounts for the CAs. Im hoping to pull a 231 from the upullit yard.
