Transfer Case shifter noise.
I searched and read several threads about this issue where the shift lever for the transfer case rattles but saw no solutions.
When I was changing my AT fluid and filter I grabbed a light and inspected the lever connectors to the TC. It appears there is a hole that the arm passes through that connects to the case and I guess it is worn out and allows a lot of play causing the rattle. The noise makes me crazy as it happens when driving or sitting at a light...
Has anyone tried attaching a spring from the side to keep the armature tight, and if so have you had any issues with it. If no one has tried this, does anyone see any problem with this? It would be pulling it towards the drivers side body and not forcing it forward.
Any ideas are appreciated.

You can try this, it worked for me and took all of five minutes. Just clean the shaft with an emery cloth strip about 1/2" wide, lube the shaft with some grease (I used white lithium) and pull down on the zip tie just enough to keep the shaft resting on the bottom bronze bushing, otherwise you might get a squeak. I also sprayed WD40 on all the pivot points.
There's a factory fix for this but I thought I try this first...so far, so good.
