Default Transfer Case Shift.

I have a 2000 XJ Sport. One time I went to throw it back in 2WD, I did it the way I should of...but the lever isn't sitting as far forward as it should. It feels like theres a strong resistance keeping it back. 2WD is engaged fine though. So do y'all think this is something I should worry about?

So how do you fix this, the whole 4 wheel drive shifter is loose, we have the manual but need a picture of how to get to it to see if it is the linkage, or what. Thanks
