Default transfer case question????

Hello everyone.
My question is this:
I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport. The transfer case makes a grouwling noise when I put it in 4 wheel drive. Should i rebuild it or replace it? if i replace it, should I use OEM or something different? Thanks for the help.

growling??? if its a low winding kind of noise that's just the sound it makes in low gear. If it's grinding and popping out and stuff like that then you have a problem. Check the fluid to be on the safe side of things.

Could be not all the way into gear. Check that your adjustment is OK and hasn't slipped.
