No, the 242 (Full-Time) has more moving parts and uses a mechanical differential. But is just as reliable and strong. With a wider chain it is used in V8 Cherokees and Hummers.

Also may have to swap the front output yoke. some of the GC uses a CV type driveshaft.
And there may be an issue with proper indicator light on dash, but the lever function is the same.
I believe you can put a wider chain on 242 for XJ, direct fit. Not sure it is necessary, unless you are going to install an LS engine.

Depends on the if the input shaft is the same depth, if it will fit. That can be swapped if it is incorrect. Also may have to swap the front output yoke. some of the GC uses a CV type driveshaft.
