Default Which Transfer Case?

ok i have a 98' xj limited. my transfer case has the following options. 2H-4Part Time-4Full time-Nuetral-4low. what transfer case is this? if i google it they say it a 231. but guys here on CF tell me ita a 242. which one is it, because i need that info when i but the sye kit. also where can i get a sye kit for cheap for my TC??

That shift pattern IS for the NP242 transfer case.

have you ever heard of guys doing a sye kit and running a ZJ or XJ front driveshaft? ive heard it works well for them. can i go down that route or am i better off doing the hack n tap?

I honestly do not know on the NP242. The SYE kits are different than the NP231.

I have a 242 with the HNT and havent had any problems (5.5", 33") and I run pretty hard. It is not hard to do, just follow the directions. There is a write up on here if u search. Thats how I learned about how to do mine. I also used a front driveshaft from an XJ but I beleive you have to have atleast a 3" lift.
