Default Tranny problems!!!

I have a 96 stock XJ and the trannys jerking. I figure that it is electrical because last time we had this happen we had the tranny pump replaced and the torque converter replaced.....the Jeep lasted a couple hundred miles with no problems until the problem reoccurred just recently. Called the mechanic back and he said that it's highly unlikely that it is the tranny and should be electrical and check the throttle position sensor. I cleaned the throttle position sensor out with some carb cleaner and wd40. It ran perfectly yet again for a couple hundred miles but started to jerk again. If you have had this happen to you and/or know how to fix it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

TPSs don't respond well to being "cleaned" expecially with WD-40. Have your TPS checked.

Agree with cruiser. TPS not designed to be cleaned. Test OR just replace it. I buy mine directly from Jeep for the best reliability and longevity.

Thanks for the replies. But the thing is, last time I had this problem I did not clean the throttle position sensor and it worked then had the same problem. The check engine light came on and I read it. It was a P1391 which said that the camshaft position sensor needed replaced. I have already replaced this once. I researched the P1391 on this forum and someone said that they replaced their distributor and that fixed the problem.
