now that i got exhaust on my jeep and its not loud anymore lol... ive got a rattle noise coming from like the clutch or tranny... the tranny been rebuilt before i got it and its the peaugot... but when im at idle sitting still in neutral and the clutch is out theres a rattle rattle rattle... if i push the clutch in it goes away... jeep doesnt pull or anything and goes into gear with eas and no problems... driving is fine no grinding or anything... just this rattle rattle... and i dont mean like the exhaust is rattling... more like knock or something that you can feel from the inside... i dont know jack about manuels so... i have no idea... lol

 

The only thing I can think of is the throwout bearing is not straight and is contacting the input shaft or is just loose. If it was an auto I would say it was the exhaust,mine rattles where it hooks up to the crossmember.

 

one of the springs on the clutch could be broken.. Their are usually 4 springs.. Or you have a bad throwout bearing

 

My peugeot did the same thing for years before it bit the dust. My replacement tranny (NV3550) does something similar, but to less degree. The word on the net for the 3550 is that it is a common noise produced by the gear slop as they are "bumping" around in the case. I only assume the peugeot noise is similar. To be honest, if your tranny is dying, you should consider this a sign to upgrade.

 

it doesnt seem to be dying i dont think anyway... i can still do 35mph 3rd gear burnouts and it holds fine... lol... if it does go im going with the AX-15 probly or the new 6 speed if i can find one... probly the new 6 speed actually... it almost feels and sounds like how wind shield wipers hit when they stop at either end and kinda "bottom out" and then goes back and forth like that... i wonder if i can get a video on my phone and load it on here... so yall can here it... other then the sound it drives fine?

 

wait? the nv3550 is te 6 speed aint it?

nope... never mind... forget i said that... forget what the 6 speed was called... saw a write up on it and looks easy to swap in...
