Default Track bar Drop bracket

I have a 3inch lift kit and it includes a trackbar drop bracket. Ive had a bunch of people tell me not to put it on, why is that??

if it gets the steering out of whack, cant i just adjust it at the drag link??

thanks alot

The trackbar bracket installs on the axle end and it relocates the trackbar mount. It works...but has a tendency to come loose and wobble. It puts stress on the mount due to leverage. Alot of people who use it tend to tack weld it to the axle for strength. It's better just to get an adjustable trackbar...or drill the hole over.

Drill the hole over..? how would one do this or know what distance to do it?

I think it's 3/4" to the right and a little upwards (the furthest spot over you can go without it becoming weak). It doesn't help much but it's better than nothing.

he would be better off using the drop bracket IMO just tack weld it in place its what i did and it held with no issues. now i have an adjustable track bar so i cut it out.

to the OP if you got the coin to get a new adjustable track bar then do it.

Are you talking about a bracket that bolts to the frame or a bracket that bolts to the axle?

On a 3" lift you shouldn't need it. Rough Country sells the drop bracket and adj. track bar. Pretty nice set up that I'll be getting soon.

When I installed my 4.5 RC, I re-dilled like they are saying above... BAD IDEA. It doesn't help much and the bolt on mine was a little tiny bit loose that got worse over time and gave me really bad DW. Plus the end was worn... It's safer just to keep the original mount hole and spend a little extra to get a new stronger one. (you might need the drop pit arm too but that only runs around $50 or so)

It's designed for a 4" lift and doubt it will work for him (if that's what you were suggesting). I HAD it on my rig and it was at it's shortest length for the 4.5" lift. It's also a rather thin trackbar and reminded me of rusty's t-bar.

I replaced it with something more trusting....

Oh yeah... you're right. I never checked what lift it was for. But what did you replace it with? I like!
