Default Track bar

Even if the track bar does not have any play could the bushing be bad or the bolt be bad

Stay on it. You'll eventually find it.

If it continues to occur and happens long enough, it will "destroy" other front end components like ball joints,, etc; it is very hard on the hardware when death wobble happens.

Mine turned out to be the track bar, even though it had only the tiniest "hint" of play in it. Took me longer than I expected to find it only because three of us that are well versed in XJs had already checked and ruled out the track bar. We were wrong.

Death wobble can be very difficult to track down on some XJs.

Same here! For the life of me I could not figure out the reason why my cherk would jump into another lane every time I hit a bump/pothole/cat on our crappy Alberta goat trail roads...just did the track bar on a hunch and bingo, now its much less of a white knuckle ride.
