TPS issues need help
I have a 90 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 Renix my tps is showing 0.00 output voltage, I am measuing in 20 DCV on my meter.
First off, is this the right setting for testing this?
and second if it is, then where should i start to get the output voltage i need?

Positive you are measuring the output wire and not the ground? Yes- you have the correct range (unless you have a 10VDC setting which might be more accurate), expected voltage is in the 1-5 VDC area.
Check all three wires. You should have +5V input, ground, and signal output.

So, tomorrow, I'm going to put the old TPS back in, and retest.
(you can test it in the running state, you should see voltage for sure, unless it's really busted).

Do you have my instructions?
Yes I have you instructions, im gonna recheck again after work.
and yes to all the above, the key was on, conector plugged in and I was backprobing first got my reference of 4.88, then I checked the output, but it showed 0.00.

Crusier54, I'm using yours also. I was not able to swap the old one in, and check it, will do tomorrow if it doesn't snow. As the OP stated, I too saw 0.0 on the output of the new TPS. Saw voltage on the old one. So, we'll see tomorrow.

Unless your backprobing isn't working on the output, it's gotta be the TPS.
Try this. Unplug the connector. Backprobe it with your meter set on Ohms. Touch the other lead to the pin inside the connector. If you get ) as a reading, then your backprobing is good. Plug it back together and continue with your testing.

Tomorrow, I'm going to put the new one back in, and do it all over again.
(clue 42: Make sure the TPS 'tang' is under the TB mount)
