I've searched but haven't found the answer. I'm towing a small trailer with my '91 Limited 4.0, AW4, D30 front, D35 rear. I'm wondering if I should be in Full-Time 4WD or 2WD? Any help would be appreciated.

Agreed. Runnin 4wd the whole time would put added and unnecessary wear and tear on the front end driveline components. Run it in 3rd unless on the interstate. Ya probably won't need it at ~65 mph.

Well I made it even though my friend lied about how big the stuff was. Ended up with a 12'x6' dual axel trailer (3000 lbs trailer +cargo). I won't do that again without a transmission cooler, and trailer brakes. Used 3rd while on surface streets and on upgrades while on the freeway. The temp started climbing (just over 210) going up the steeper grades but when it levelled off I put it in OD and the temp dropped back to 200. The only problem was that 3rd doesn't really keep the speed down on the downgrades. If it was on purely flat lands it would have been a breeze. The speed limit while towing on Interstate 80 is 55 mph but there were a lot of trucks towing their large boats and passing me like I was standing still. Then again in CA most cars do 85 in a 65 zone so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
