Anyone know the rear shock torque specs? I’m getting conflicting info. 1989xj

 

Don't know if they would be the same but my '00 XJ FSM says 17 ft lbs for the upper bolt and 46 ft lbs for the lower nut.

 

Unfortunately, there is no rear suspension info listed for your year but maybe this can give you an idea. This is for my 96. I went back and changed it to a 1990 and the info stayed the same.

 

I really like having a hard copy of an FSM. Even though my Jeep is an '00 the '01 FSM I believe to be identical for most if not all things.
Finding stuff in my digital copy of my '00 FSM can be challenging sometimes.
But not this time. LOL.

 

Who uses a toque wrench on shock bolts, LOL.
