TJ Moab Wheels on 01 Cherokee w/lift
I recently purchased an 01 Cherokee. It has a 3" Zone lift. Had some 17" Commander wheels on it with wheel spacers which allowed those 5 on 5's to fit. As I'm doing the hubs/bearings at this point, I also want to install a set of the TJ Moab wheels.
These wheels are the stock wheel so they'll fit on the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. I have 265/70-65 tires on them.
I also bought spacers per advice I was given from the guy I purchased the Moab's from. They are Spidertrax 1.5" spacers. I installed one side, got it done with the new hubs and the tire sticks out a bit, about an inch or so and it rubs on the bottom of the fender flares.
So...do I need the spacers? If I remove them, the wheel moves inboard...will that work? Will it rub without the spacers? Bottom line...do I need the spacers? I can always trim the bottom of the flares, its not all that much and get the tires to move in a bit which, would make me feel a bit better...less wear on the hub I would think, right?

That's about a 31x10.5 tire. Without the spacers, it may rub on the lower control arms when turned to full lock. I don't remember offhand what the backspacing is on the TJ Moabs, but that would be the factor that determines whether you can run them without the spacers.
Edit: but if jbsjunk doesn't have issues with that then I would say you are set (assuming he has at least a 10.5" wide tire on that rig)!

Well, I had one tire on and then had to quit for the night the other day since I broke the tool to get the hub off and had to rent another one.
I've now completed the hub job (Timken) and tried a Moab on the passenger side without the spacer. No rub and no issue. So I took the hub off the other side. No rubs and no interference. Really weird. It looks more aggressive with the tires out, but not worth the interference. I guess I get to return the Spidertrax spacers. Quality pieces though.
