To run 36's it is going to take a lot more then just a simple axle swap. To run that tall of a tire, even if yuo do a lot of cutting and bumpstopping wil take at least 4.5" of lift possibly more.

Also stock axle shafts will break.. even the bigger u-joint ones rather easily. So plan on alloy shafts for the front.. and more then likely for the rear.

thats not the main problem, in the shafts inside that will break, not the housing. Although either could break, just IMO the shaft is a more common break

Thanks for helping me out guys. I decided to go with 33's with the D30 just need to put new brackets on it since you can easily poke a screwdriver thru the originals btw anybody know were to get new brackets? or stronger ones

Wow! That thing's pretty rough. You would probably be better off just buying and cleaner one from the JY.

Ok, I went back and re-read this thread. If you want to beef up your existing axle without buying a new one you should be able to swap all the internals from the donor(+/- gears) into the (probably way cleaner) housing thats already in your XJ.

Keep in mind though, that donor does not have the beefier 297 axleshafts if its a stock '94. But, at least it is non-disco!

only problem every thing in C.T. gets rusted bad thanks to the winter salt ratio.
