Default Tie Rod and Tow hooks

Ok first off, I tried searching for this bc I know it has been talked about a lot.

What year V8 Grand Cherokee tie rod will fit on a 98 XJ?

And

What size sockets, wrenches and or torx bits do I need to removed the factory tow hooks froma 96- XJ?

Reason I am asking all this is bc I am out of town with limited tools and found a tie rod for 20 bucks and tow hooks for 5 bucks a piece if I can get them off.

Thanks for the help

ehh, the hooks are a decent deal, but they are useless unless you have the bracket

hes prolly got to pull the brackets with the hooks... the torx on the hooks i believe are a t40. anywhere between 15mm and 19mm for the nuts/bolts.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes I will pull the brackets also. No one knows off the top of their head about the tie rod?

Yeah I think you are good with any year ZJ as long as it's a V8.

Thank for the info and the pic. I was wondering if it was suppose to have bends in it, now I know.

Thanks all

I am getting a little confused. Do I have to have the drag link as well as the tie rod or can I get away with just the tie rod. Also it is suppose to have bends in it right? I don't want to pick up the wrong part.

Thanks again

The tie rod off of the Zj will have bends in it. The stock xj tie rods are straight. If you are upgrading to the Zj tie rod you need: The tie rod, adjustment sleeve, and a new tie rod end. (you need the new tie rod end because the ZJ tie rod is thicker than stock)
