Default Throttle position sensor

Is there a way to adjust a new TPS without back probing? I ask because my side kick was trying to adjust the new one I purchased & his "paper clip entry" scuffed up the wires on it.
Just wondering if it can stay connected be done.

thanks

Why are you trying to adjust it? Install it the way it came out. Your jeep will automatically adjust it...

What year xj are we talking about here?

89 renix has to be adjusted if I'm not mistaken. The sensor mount is slotted so it can be twisted to achieve the proper reference & output voltage.

I think

Yep that's why I was asking what year xj, you don't need to adjust anything on the newer ones... I'm on the app so if you have a signature that says the year I can't see it lol.

You always have to twist the sensor to get the bolts to line up... But I've never had a renix and I'm guessing you mean the bolt holes are slotted...

Interesting. You want to talk to cruiser.. He is the man when it comes to renix from what I see. Maybe his ears will burn and he will come in this thread and give you a hand.

Sorry I couldn't help you out.. I haven't had the pleasure of owning a renix yet.

Got to the junkyard and cut off the TPS flat connector from a wiring harness and cut off the flat connectors from an old TPS . Twist the wire "A" from male connector and the other wire "A" from female connector together and then crimp one end of a yellow butt connector on the twisted wires. Do this again to wires "B" and "C". Unhook the flat connector on the TPS you want to adjust. Plug in the new adapter you just made.
Now you can check your voltage at the uncrimped end of the yellow butt connectors.

Get it adjusted and put a dab of RTV on the bare spots when you're done. Here's how you "backprobe" and don't scuff wires.
