Default terrible grinding sound...need help

okay so i just lifted my cherokee around ~3" and about two weeks later the front rotor began to wear irregulary with a sof t grinding sound then it went away for a day or so then it came back very strong. and no when i stop and sounds like a frieght train grinding to a stop and the front shakes from that grinding only at low speed...now i know my u-joint is going bad on that same side(passenger) could that have caused it(although i will be fixing that also) or i no my barakes are bad in the front driver side leaks a very little and the rotors and pads need to be replaced as welll.. back to my original question is it just from simply being worn out or is there another reason this happend...please get back to asap with any info i will be going to get parts in the am just wanna make sure i get everything possible to fix this problem(sry about being long i just wanted to make every understand my issue)

The pads are probably so worn down that they've been grinding into the rotors. You'll need pads, probably rotors, and whatever is leaking on the drivers side. That's probably the flex hose, but could be the caliper. Rotors should always be replaced in pairs.
Might as well fix those u-joints while you're into it.

Well from the sounds of it your brake pads are toast and the noise your hearing is metal to metal grinding since there no brake material left on the pad and its just grinding the rotor.

The easiest thing to do is take the wheels off on the front and look at the rotors and fell them also if there really rough/bad then you'll probally need new rotors along with brake pads.

Now as for the u joints they typically dont cause that noise they will cause noise when turning normally more then just driving straight but always a good idea to replace them if needed when you have the brakes off.

yeah sounds like it was just a case of you did the lift and the brakes just finally went shortly after instead of the lift causing the problem.

Speaking of ujoints i need to do mine soon also lol.

No I think it's a case of you putting it off too long, causing that damage. When you hear a noise from your brakes check 'em out ASAP, and get 'em fixed.
