Default Temp sensor not working

My temp gauge hasn't ever worked right and I decided to put a new sensor in it to get it to work. So I went to car quest and bought the sensor for the gauge but it still won't work. K must be bad gauge. Put a new one in and still won't read. What do y'all think? Ps it sits right at 100 then when I start the jeep it will rise to the other side then fall back when it's started.

Possible ground/wire issue. Try grounding the wire, with the key on I believe it should max out. At least that's how it works for the oil pressure sender.

Also, did you use teflon tape on the sensor? That will affect reading. Did you clean the connections on the IP when you replaced the gauge?

The SENSOR for your 94 is in the water neck.
The SENDING UNIT is in the cylinder head.

Which did you replace?

Replaced both. But I just unplugged the old part and put the new one in and plugged it in.

Did ya get sender for light or gauge ? Quick gauge check remove wire from sender rear one on cyl head turn key to run while some one watchs gauge ground wire to engine gauge should rise . Standard TS334T part number for gauge...
