Refreshing of the jeepster
Hey there everyone! I have a 96 cherokee with the 4.0. It had been sitting for the last yr with out being ran/driven due to some legal issues. I am finally getting back around to it and am wondering what some good methods/products to use to freshen everything up after sitting so long. I use it for offroad only and even that is not too often.

Charge the battery
Flush the coolant
Change the oil
Change the trans fluid
Change Tcase fluid
Grease anything that can be greased
Fill the gas tank with gas and use some fuel system cleaner/water remover
Wash it
Febreeze the inside
Just throwing some out there...

The gas will be your main concern. Use a high-quality fuel system cleaner and fill it up, to get as much fresh gas mixed in as possible. Once you start it and warm it up, change oil and filter. Also, how old is the coolant?

Assuming you have an automatic:
Differentials: 80w90 API GL-5 gear oil. 75w90 synthetic gives good results. If your Jeep goes swimming a lot I wouldn't recommend it. If you offroad or tow you need 75w140 synthetic. If you have a limited slip differential, be sure to look for fluid that had the additive already, or seek out the LSD friction modifier separately.
Transmission: Dexron III/Mercon ATF. Mostly sold as "D/M Compatible" since the licenses expired. ATF+4 is too thin and gives unpredictable results.
Transfer case: Any ATF or synthetic 5w30 motor oil. Keep it simple and use the same as something else in your Jeep, or use whatever is on hand. Don't fill with gear oil
(I got all excited thinking there was going to be an actual Jeepster in here
ugly little things but interesting nonetheless)
