temp gauge not working on my 1989???
Ok, when i first got the jeep (couple months ago) the temp gauged worked. Then one day i noticed it was showing pegged (i thought something was wrong) so i pulled over and sat. Nothing changed so i continued home.
Now it will work sometimes (about 1 in every 10 or 15 start ups)
I replaced the temp sending unit (the one on top of the head closest to the firewall and valve cover)
Hoping this would work, but it did not.
When starting the jeep, the needle moves but just pegs it self automatically as if the motor was a molten piece of lava.
My oil pressure gauge also does not work, but it never has and it never moves.
i am sure its a connection but just cant seem to find a messed up one. Any input would be great. Thanks

ok Just wanted to update to anyone who ever has the problem where their temp gauge works sometimes and then sometimes it doesn't
I did the following and then started it to realize that it worked-
Cleaned the c101 connection (it was very gummed up)
Re routed my under dash ground to a more appropriate ground
Pretty happy
also my windows would work only sometimes, i found out that the breaker fuse comes lose every now and then.

Yes sir, ive been going down your list actually lol. I think you should do the rear door lock set up (adding two relays) in there as wheel. I am doing it when my relays come in, might grab some pictures and do a write up unless you want to through it in yours?
Any way, i am going to refresh the two grounds on the motor (dipstick and head-wall) when i do my fuel filter tomorrow. Thanks alot for taking your time and making that thread, it has became pretty useful. My C101 was nasty, took me a bit to do and still didnt get everything out of it.

I've done the relays for the locks on two of my own rigs. I used this:

Well i was saying for this forum in particular, i have seen that on naxja. Ill sumbit one and see if they want it. If not o well lol. I have looked and looked for one. And im not to inclined on the whole relay thing so it took me awhile. And pictures would have helped me dearly.
We like comprehensive write-ups here. Do a good one and we'll see that it becomes a permanent fixture around these parts.
And the fix works great!!!!
Yea i will try to be clean about everything such as wiring and describe it all as best i can.
So far my set up with be two bosch relays with part number of 330-070
Second part of it is going to be a dual socket for the relays to both fit into 330-078
Ill use a thicker gauge wire to run directly into a power source, and then take all four of the grounds and create a new ground area in the location of the relays. Would that be ok? I am also going to draw up a wire diagram for easier reading (dummy proof lol). Ill do that after i wire it up and make sure everything works. Ill send you a proof read before i post it if you dont mind?
