Default Taillight Bulb

This might be a silly question, but I honestly have never touched my taillights, so I don't know. My reverse lights are out. I take it that it's as simple as popping the housing off, and replacing the bulbs? And then can I upgrade the rest of the bulbs (brake, etc) to a higher watt? I don't want to go anywhere near LED, but if I decide to tint my taillights, I figure a brighter bulb can't hurt.

Thanks

Not familiar with higher watt. Yea, just remove the lens, you'll see. There is one lower outer screw that can be a hassle. One I saw had all 7/16, then they threw in a torx down there to make me hike all the way back to the Jeep.

Hmm, alright. So they might not sell a brighter bulb that can fit in the stock lights? Maybe just replacing them might be fine, since I don't know the last time they were replaced.

Hey Guy. Well they probably DO, I just don't know. You might google with "halogen", although they do get extra hot.

I carry a 2 foot level on the floor by the driver door, use it to hold the brake pedal to check the brake lights when I check my mail. Cut's down on red lights in the rear-view mirror.

I was looking a bit last night and I wasn't coming across different types of bulbs, so I just assumed they don't exist, haha. And thanks for that level tip! I'm sure I have something similar to that to help me lol.

Hey! I just left Ace hardware. Guess what I saw in the RV section? "extra bright" tale-light bulbs! Maybe they use them for backing up RV's? Really I didn't get why you wanted brighter bulbs, now I want some! (just for the reverse lights)

2357s are the heavy duty/brighter version of the 1157 combination tail/signal light bulb.

795s are a halogen single filament bulb replacement for the old 1034s like you have in your reverse lights. Much brighter.

I need new reverse lights, since mine went out. And since I'm doing that, I want to tint my taillights a bit so it fits in with my all black setup. I figured brighter bulbs would be a good idea so I can have a nice tint without worrying about the lights not being visible. I'll have to check my local Ace to see if they have those bulbs!

Is the 2357 just the reverse bulb, or is that for every bulb in the housing? And I just need the bulbs, right? Nothing else to convert them or anything to make them work?

Thanks
