lack of heat
Whats up CF?
Like the title says, i have a lack of heat in my xj. When i put my new radiator in i used one of my buddies laser temp. guage thing to find out that my engine is running quite cool, which is good IMO. But now that the winter is here i have very little heat, it feels like a summer breeze. Ive used cardboard before to cover half the radiator in other vehicles to get more heat. Im thinkin of doin that but i have no temp guage on my dash (annoys me) What would u ppl suggest. Is it possible my heater just shat out on me? On warmer days i have hot hot heat, but when its 30 and under its by no means hot enough to warm me up. Sugestions, tips, advice? Thanks

I did a lot of research on this issue and finally got heat in my 1995.
Does it blow a full volume of air? If not it could be a blown fuse, loose connection, bad ground, or faulty switch or motor.
If it only blows at one speed it's probably the switch.
If the blower motor turns but you're not getting any air you could have a blocked intake, a loose fan on the motor shaft or the outside air door could be broke.
If it blows air but it never gets hot it could be the thermostat, a blocked heater core or the blend door not in the correct position. (The blend door was my problem and I really need to replace the cable, I moved it manually and it gets hot in there.)
If it won't defrost the cable might need adjustment, could be a vacuum issue, or a damaged defroster hose or the duct could be leaking.
