Default tail gate ?......

is there any sensor on the tail gate 2 say it is up? cause the light on the dash doesnt come on, or the interior lights!
its a 98, so its the newer style.....

I have a 2k XJ and the interior lights don't go on unless I depress the rear cargo light. I don't know if they had that option in 98 but you may wanna check that. My apologies if you already tried that. Not trying to imply you are ignorant. Good luck!

Mine is a 98 and it works the way your talking about. To get the lights on, I just press the rear light.

If there is or was a button it would be around the door jam! Reather than wait for us to reply go look around the molding of the liftgate!!! X3 just pushing the light...

the switch is in the latch pull the cover off the tall gate and u will find it in there they usualy break and u need a new latch assembly and then u have to change over your tumbler!
