Default T-Case Oil

Hey guys i gotta change my front output seal on my tcase today and im also gonna change the tcase fluid. What kind of oil do I need and how much of it??

use ATF+3 or whatever transmission oil you use for your transmission. you will need a little more than one quart so pick up two. use a pump and it will make it much easier.

Make sure that you can loosen the fill nut before you loosen the drain nut.

And to be clear... your T-case isnt picky. but your tranny is.. NO ATF+anything. It was built and designed for Dexron II. Dex II is no longer available so Dex III or Dex IV fluids are the correct ones.

For an ATF fluid ... Dexron is the preferred choice for the transfer case.



However, the preferred fill (according to New Venture/New Process) is actually 5w-30 motor oil.


Whowey is right tho .... the tcase isn't picky.



Just don't put gear oil in there (although I've seen that done too).
