T-Case Fluid Change?
I've been doing quite a bit of maintence lately on my jeep, differentials, oil, new wipers, ect. Just was wondering if it is a good idea to do change the t-case while I'm at it. And if so, what do I use? I have a 2001 so i believe that is the 242? I'm not sure!
Do you have Full time 4 wheel drive in addition to Part time 4 wheel drive? If so, then you have the NP242. If you have 2 High, 4 High, Neutral, 4 Low then you have the NP231. Both take ATF Dexron/Mercron. NP 231 takes a bit under 2 quarts, NP 242 takes a bit more than 2 quarts. Remove both drain and fill plugs. Drain out old fluid from bottom hole. Replace bottom plug. Fill until ATF runs out of fill hole(Upper hole).

How are the other fluids? Factory recommended at 30,000 was diff, trans, transfer case, engine oil and filter, tune-up and throttle body cleaning.

In the past few days I have done both differentials, engine oil/filter, air filter, windshield washer fluid.. on the to-do list is the t-case, coolant flush (once I figure out how), and maybe the transmission..

Excellent plan. The trans can be done without pulling the pan since the AW4 has a metal screen in it. It's adviseable to replace the crush washer undeer the drain plug to avoid drips. Takes about 3.75 quarts of fluid.
