Default SYE or T-case drop

Hey guys. SO I have a question. I have a 99 Xj with a 3.5" RE lift, and I want to add about 2" more with shackles and spacers. Here is my question, I have heard of people using a T-case drop instead of an SYE on 4.5-5" lifts, is that a viable option? I want it to work well and last, but I just don't have the money right now for a SYE and new drive shaft. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Do it the right way, SYE.

Think about it. You raise your rig for improved articulation and ground clearance....then you drop the crossmember with a t-case drop. Does that really make sense to anyone?

the transfer case drop spacers are good if you don't really do that much wheeling, or just want the lifted look on a street truck. but an SYE is always the best option. if you don't want to spend a ton of money, do some price shopping before you go ahead and purchase. usually you can find a good used set up, or even some heavily discounted parts from an online dealer.

Is there a big difference strength wise between a hack and tap and a SYE witha new output shaft, how often do people break output shafts?

No, not really. I ran a H&T all over Colorado and multiple trips to Moab. Never had any problems other that a loosing c-clip...but it was my fault and not the H&T's.
