Transfer Case ?
My transfer case has run dry, and I replaced the fluids today. When I drained the case, about a cups worth of burnt smelling fluid came out. I drained completely, and replaced with a liter of dex/merc ATF. When I put everything back together, I did a test drive, and now I get some grinding in my gears.
What should I do next?

I have some more information.
I took the jeep for another test drive, and I noticed the following things.
1. At low speeds and RPMs, there is a groaning noise of sort coming from the case.
2. At medium RPM's, the groaning stops, and the gears sort of whine.
3. At high RPMs, the case fully engages, and the 4wd drives and sounds like it should. My guess is the chain as well.
4. Sometimes the case clunks when disengaging.
Do you guys think its worth my time to buy a $200 rebuild kit that includes a chain? Or should I try and find a rebuild case.
I have the ability to do the rebuild myself, but I just need to know if its worth the time.

well it depends on how good are the parts inside the transfer case, you should take it apart and see if its just the chain,or anything else...like in my situation, all i replaced was the chain and then resealed it and it runs good now

Who can recommend a good place to get a complete rebuild kit from? I want one that includes a new chain. Are there any kits that not only rebuild, but beef the T-case up? Maybe a larger sprocket and chain?
Any help would be appreciated.
