sye question.
got a '99 cherokee, i'm about to put a 3" RC lift on it. my buddy says that i have a 50/50 chance of needing a sye.
first of all, does it go on the rear or the front. see, my leaf springs are collapsed, so i got a new pair from pro-comp. the problem is, they are already 2.5" HD lift springs. so, if i put the add-a-leaf on, it will probably take it up way too high in the rear, if i don't put it on it might be too low. so, if the sye goes on the rear, i might have a problem.
also, i can't find sye for np242 for a decent price anywhere. are there any effective shortcuts?

t case drop is 40 bucks a sye from rubi expreess is 99.. plus a new driveshaft. t case drop is cheaper but you can get it caught on things.

3" is a minor lift. You should be fine. If it vibrates, you can just shim the axle so it is the same angle as the tcase and you will be fine. Save your money. here is a diagram.

the procomp leaf pack already has an angled mounting surface, i guess for this same reason, but if i manage to find a front driveshaft for 50 bucks, $200 is not that bad for sye. now, do i need a stock {XJ} front driveshaft for hack-n-tap?

junk yard, or check craigslist. you could even check the sellers/wanted section and see if anybody is selling on the site.
some guys out there have been wheeling with a hack'n'tap on 35" tires and 6.5" and higher of lift with no problems. of course, you do have to do it right: has to be precise and proper drive shaft length. but for your size of lift, a stock front CV shaft should be fine (junk yard pillaging!)
as 4.3L XJ said earlier, shims are another idea, too. with only 3" of lift, in my honest opinion, shims would be your cheapest and most logical starting point. you'd probably only need a set of 2degree shims. but, if you do decide to splurge and go for the H'n'T and new shaft, you won't need the shims.
