wow this is an old thread. just thought id add a pic of my setup for anyone still looking for ideas like i was a few weeks ago.
top red switch is a mater switch
second is for my bumper driving lights
third and fourth are roof lights
only have the bumper lights hooked up now but it works great. they are way better switches than the usually cheap ones lights come with. also looks pretty good if they are all aligned!

isnt there a switch plate that someone sells that mounts in the center console. Its black and says XJ on it and you could get 4 or 5 switches. Ive been trying to find it but havent. I believe the websites call gauge something.
Anyone know what website it is?

I went to Google and typed in XJ switch plate and it popped right up.
I like it but my dogs would be all over it.

I never did the final finish detail work on this, maybe someday I'll get back to it.
I don't believe they offer a shelf-it for XJ's anymore, but you can still find them on Ebay.

Left to right
Alarm module
GPS (needs to be updated)
Rear PIAA light switches
Bearcat Scanner
Carling switch pod (6 and 3)
Escort radar detector
Rear view video mirror
Modified the original sound bar with external speakers for scanner and Ham/CB radio and added additional interior lighting.
This little project was totally adhoc over a weekend. I needed a place for more switches and that needed morphed into the result. So I don't have any build shots, measurements etc (sorry). As the shelf-it provided the base, most of the time was creating and reinforcing the face plate.
Hope this helps,
Kent
