sway bar question
1999 stock cherokee. Daily driver. I replaced the front and rear sway bar bushings and links and all 4 shocks. I have a rattling, clunking kind of noise in the rear that I'm fairly sure is coming from the rear sway bar. When I grab the sway bar with my hand it moves a little and makes some noise. I've checked just about everything and thats the only thing makes noise when I shake it. My question is can I remove the rear sway bar completely and do without it? Is it dangerous to drive with the rear swaybar removed?

With the leaf spring set up, you only need the front swaybar. If you have a tj, say, with coil suspension all the way around, then you would want to keep your rear swaybar. So glad I've got an xj with the leafs in the rear... No sway bar up front on mine and I love it. Now I just gotta get a lift and some discos and I can get rid of that rear bar!

it is all based on spring rate. coils, leafs, coil overs (unless they are ORI's), or air shocks, doesnt matter. it is all based on spring rates

Leafs are ok to run w/o sway bars. But coil springs are too soft and will allow for a lot (some say too much) body roll even off road. aka spring rate...
