New leaf springs flat?
I replaced my XJ's leaf springs with some brand new Heavy Duty springs part# CRO4886185AB. I towed a trailer with a 360LB tongue load for a total of maybe 10-15 minutes and the leaf springs are already flat! Is this normal? 360LB is well within the trucks limits isn't it? The manual states up to 750LB. Plus I chose the Heavy Duty springs for towing..
Edit: The truck has a budget boost with extended shackles. Could this be a problem?

Where did you buy the springs? Were they imported by Crown Automotive and sold by Quadratec?
The towing capacity is 350 lbs tongue weight and 3,500 lbs trailer weight. If you use a "weight distribution hitch" the capacity increases to 500 and 5,000 lbs respectively.
Where did you get the 750 lbs figure ? That is plain wrong.

On page 129 of my 97 XJ owners manual it says 750lbs. Max tongue weight with a class 3 hitch. I bought the leafs from 4wd.com Both sides are flat so what is the likelyhood that theyre both defective?? Could my extended rear shackles be causing this?

I to have a 2" BB and am about to install it and was looking at the same exact leaf springs. I am now re-thinking this purchase.(I wish I would have not bought the BB and bought the 3" lift springs but i didn't)Is there any other leaf spring that will fair better? would I be better just leaving my original leafs in when I install my 2" BB? I will mostly be towing a 14 ft fishing boat so it is not real heavy but I do not want to do this twice and I am running out of money.

Like OOD said, XJ's tend to ride "flat" anyway. Trust me, the spring IS working, it just doesnt have that concave flexing look to it like a bigger truck has. I just replaced mine and although they dont look much different (maybe an inch and a half higher ride height), they FEEL incredibly different.
Also, in the Haynes it shows our stock shackles vertical. Not flexed towards the back at all. Well my old ones were facing back at a slight angle and when I installed my new ones I didnt the same thing. Guess what: Its too much so I need to adjust them vertically now.
New springs will most definitely give you a better ride. It is highly doubtful that you got 2 bad springs, you were probably just expecting more of a flexed look.
