when i found out that i had a short it was to late i had done burn up my pcm so i tried another and worked fine my ? is can i just keep this one in its from a 96 like mine but it had a standard and mines an auto the other was from a sport and mine is a country other than that i don't see any diff. it seems to run ok the thing is i don't wanna walk miles again so should i change to a pcm with the same number s on the back or will the one i have on there now be fine?
just keep an eye out on things. those computers are programed with vin numbers for the vehicle they are in. if another module reads the one you replaced and sees the wrong vin. things can go all sorts of wrong. seems to be a 50/50 sorta thing. ive seen it go both ways in the shop before.

If everything is working fine and you have no check engine light, you should be fine.
You may have had a computer failure, but generally they are hardy.
What is the "short" you are referring to that damaged your original computer??

well the oxygen sensor wire was torn out and the garage i took it to just tied it up and the loop got a hole worn in it and three wires were touching together it took a bout 2 weeks to find it because when at idel not moving wasn't to bad then if you put in gear and move alittle it would start spiiting and sputtering like water in gas but turned out to be a dead short but was to late so burnt up the pcm any way the only code is the oxgen code and i'll replace that when i get a chance
ps even if the pcm is a different number it will be ok?
