Default Suspension Torque Specs

Alright, I'm going to be doing the lift install on the XJ tomorrow, but I need to know what the torque specs are for the bolts I'll be pulling and reinstalling. Does anyone have a link to a chart, or some recommendations?

Haynes manual should have them listed. You could also google "bolt torque table". Good luck on the lift.

German torque - "gutentiyt." (Say it out loud, you'll get it.)

Suspension isn't something you should dork around with - I've got most specs from FSMs on my site in the Tech section, so check there. If I don't have it, it's either because I don't have that manual (yet) or have it and haven't been through it (yet) - but please don't ask me. I'm waiting as fast as I can!

NB: When torquing suspension fasteners, torque to finger tight with the vehicle in the air (not more than 10-15 pound-feet,) then lower the vehicle to the ground. Give each corner a few sharp bounces to settle the suspension into its natural position, then torque. Failure to do so can (and usually does) lead to premature suspension bushing failure...

Thanks for all the information, guys. This won't be the first time I've done suspension work on a vehicle, it's just the first time on a Jeep; hence wondering what the torque specs are. I may pick up a Hayne's manual today while I'm out.

Wasn't sure - and most people don't know the "torque on the ground" bit.

Don't bother with the Haynes tho - get a Chilton's. I have Haynes, Chilton's, and FSM - and the Haynes I usually end up using under the short leg on the workbench (does more for me there anyhow.)

On a slightly related note, should I or should I not need a spring compressor for this? It's only a 3" lift, and I've heard a million suggestions for each from either side of the argument.

I've seen it done without. I'd have one handy, for safety's sake.
