Question Suspension/Steering Maintenance

Hello, Jeepsters,

I have noticed in the past few months that the rubber grommets in my suspension (or steering?) linkage are starting to split, crack, and squeeze out of their intended positions. I want to replace them with polyurethane. Trouble is, I don't know jack about suspension and steering. Can someone give me a crash course on identifying the parts, what they do, and how to work with them?

Rob

Sounds like you need to change all your bushings. Dee Engineering makes a complete kit.

It should come with diagrams in the pack and you might be able to find it cheaper. But it will give you a whole new ride feeling.

What about "energy suspension"? See lots of ads for it here...

All poly products are basically the same, there is no special way to cast poly so it's up to you what brand. But all bushings eventually go bad and it sounds from what you described yours are dry rotting.

Yeah, they're old. I'll look around. Thanks for the input. Would still like to learn about the components still!

I'll be underneath the heep today, so I'll be checking stuff out. Thanks for the pic. So I'm assuming that each component is going to have a grommet/bushing at each connection, right?
