Default Suspension Reality Check

OK, so my current setup is not optimal that is a gross understatement. I currently run a 3.5" add a leaf and 1" shackles. I want a better on-road feel so do I go with a 3.5 inch leaf and keep the shackles of go with a RE 4.5 inch leaf? Any other ideas on better on-raod handeling would be much appreciated.

what is everything done to your jeep?

mine rides so smooth on road, i call it the jeep caddy. i have a 5" lift and 31s on it. its a rough country lift with control arm drops. those control arm drops made all the difference because it was a rough ride prior to adding that

so you added a bracket to lower your control arms rather than get longer arms?

I think the idea is to have a shorter shackle since the angle isn't as bad. I'm at 4.5" with a 1.5" shackle and a 3" full pack; I couldn't tell a ride quality difference from when I was at 3" with a full pack.

I currently have the same set up you do. I just recieved a new set of 3.5" springs to replace the "add-a-sag" that's there now. As soon as I get them in I'll post and let you know my opinion.

The on road handling will be the same, or so close that you will not be able to tell the difference between using 3.5 inch full leaf packs and a 1 inch lift shackle, and a 4.5 full leaf pack. Wheeling with the 3.5 full leaf pack with the 1 inch lift shackle will let your Cherokee flex more.

you want to ditch the stock shackle and get a 1.5 inch or 2 inch extended shackle. hint- stock mj shackle will net you about an inch over stock xj shackle.

i'd go with the 3.5 inch leafs and a 1.5 inch shackle. and definitely get some lower control arm (lca) drop brackets. i like the RE drop brackets better than rough country or the others.
