sunroof or no?
What are the sunroofs like on the Cherokee's? I'm looking at a 98 with one. Does it leak? Are they prone to leaking? do they just collect rust? Do you guys prefer them? I kinda like it!

As far as I know, XJ's weren't available from the factory with a sunroof, so the ones you see that do have them are aftermarket setups. That being said, the quality of the actual sunroof will vary a lot by the quality of the setup, and how well it was installed.

I have a 2000 with a "factory" sunroof. It wasnt actually done at the factory but sent out to a company that installed them before going to the dealer. It is an electric sunroof that slides open on top of the roof. This was available from maybe 96 and up? Im not sure. Earlier models had a pop up type of deal as an option, Im not sure how it was installed. Long story short, they are nice but they leak. Mine only leaks when it rains hard. Supposedly there are drain tubes to drain away this leakage but I have not been able to locate them on my xj. Most people just silicone them shut, no more problems. The leakage will saturate the headliner and cause it to fall down. You should be able to see signs of discoloration if yours ever leaked.
