Default Won't start - coincidence or????

Ok so today I am replacing my water pump.. I had the Jeep out on the gravel while draining / flushing all the coolant and emptying the system before tearing into it. (started it warmed it up to operating temp, drained the coolant, refilled with prestone flush and water, started it ran to operating temp, shut it down and drained it again) So the system is completely drained (no coolant, water anything) and I just needed to move it about 40ft into the shop.. and it won't start... just makes a "click" sound when I turn the key...

Question: is there some sort of "no start" sensor that won't allow it to start when the coolant is empty????? Or is this just a grand coincidence that my starter is bad??? I tried jumping it just in case the battery was low... also tapped the starter with a hammer... The starter appears to be OEM with a Chrysler factory sticker on it..

1998 XJ with over 200K miles on it.

Did you disconnect the temp sensor on the thermostat housing?

Nope that's either a huge coincidence or you bumped something while working. I'd check all of your grounds first.

Its called a Stupid Start Sentry Immobilizer. Prevents people from starting an engine with no coolant in it.

Complete coincidence..

A "click" when trying to start is usually related to the battery and or battery connections.

Remove battery cables; clean them and battery posts until SHINY, then reattach.
