Default suggestions for remaned long blocks

Well I got a 93 2 door xj and the motor blew in it. I tore it down tonight to find that when everything is shot it had a busted piston and im guessin the metal from it dispursed through the motor taking everyrhing else with it. The cam is shot, the crank has groove marks in it one of the cylinders were rhe busted piston was looks like its gona need to be sleeved the scoring in its so deep. So long story short this is gona be a dd with lots of highway miles and I have a pregnant wife thats due in march so I realy dont have the time to build a motor right now so I was thinkin on goin on a droppin the money to get a remaned long block. I was just woundering if any of yall had whent this route and if so who u whent with.

I got mine from City Motors in Dallas. They rebuilt my long block, but my head turned out to be bad after installation of the engine. Overheating like it was before rebuild. They sent another head and paid for the installation of the second head. A stand up company. I will use them again when my '87 Renix needs rebuilding.

Any engine place should be able to rebuild it. I'd probably just find a JY motor and drop it in there then rebuild your motor when you get the time and money (that's what I'm doing with the motor from my old wrecked XJ - going to stroke it). Find a JY that will offer a warranty, that way, if something is wrong with it, you'll get another. It's also probably the fastest and cheapest way.

The shops in my area didn't offer a very good warranty, time wise. That's why I sent mine out.

One week turn around time including shipping.

Also, his engine may be too damaged to repair, based on what happened to it.

I mean im sure i could have it bored 30 over and it might be enough but by the time i have all that done and buy a new crank and everything else ill be 1500 in on it. I just got off the phone with napa and they can get me a remanufacured 4.0 for 1800.00 with a 100 dollar rebait and it comes with 3 year or 36,000 mile warrenty that wont be voided if i install it my self so i think im just gona go that rout i can have it in 3-5 days so hopefully i can get back on the road next week.

S&J Engines has 4.0 and 4.7 options available, both with 7 year / 100,000 mile warranty. Price isn't too bad either.
