Default Wagoneer Hazards and comfort/power switch

Couple quick questions.
My XJ - 1987 Pioneer 4WD 4.0L

1. for wagoneer owners. When you turn on the hazards and then step on the brake, do the hazards continue to flash or do the brake lights override them? I have wagoneer tail lights and harnesses on my XJ and when I step on the brake, the hazards stop flashing. I've already tried two different electronic flashers but not a regular one.

2. When you switch on the transmission "power" switch from the "comfort" setting, does it take effect right away? I.e. the little light on the switch turns on and the shifting is a little different. Mines always takes a little while to turn on, but once it does, it stays on. (meaning it doesn't appear to be an intermittent connection.)

Thanks

1.My 90 MJ does the same thing.

2. Should be instant. Should be left in Power all the time. The switches are sometimes sketchy. That's why I always do this:
Bypassing the Power/Comfort Switch on a Renix Jeep

Remove and unplug the switch. In the harness are 3 wires One has a stripe, one is tan, and the other black. Make a 4" jumper wire with a male spade at each end. Plug one end in the cavity for the tan wire and the other in the cavity for the striped wire and you'll be in permanent Power mode. Stuff the harness back in and reinstall the switch for looks.

I'm not too familiar with the MJ, but I'm assuming it uses the brake lights for the turn signals as well like the Wagoneer?

I didn't think it acted like a "sketchy" switch, but it could very well be. Even though everyone says it should be left in Power mode, I would like to be able to switch between the modes just because I like things to work like they did originally. I'll probably still leave it in power mode though, lol.

Thanks

Yeah, taillights like a Waggy.

Those switches are a notorious piece of crap.

Every vehicle that I have owned when you press the brake pedal the bake light will over ride the emergency flashers.

Really? The Cherokee XJ's have seperate stop lights and turn signals... So if you step on the brake your hazards will stop flashing even though they are separate circuits?

Well, I would except I'd have to swap the harnesses etc. back, and I'm not about to do that just to answer that question. I don't own multiple XJs like many here.. I'll just take his word for it...

And so if all this is true, my XJ doesn't have a problem! Done. That was easy. =)
