Default stuck in first

Drove home from the lease two weekends ago and parked my XJ. Came out this past Sunday to move it to the other driveway and it is stuck in first gear (manual tranny). Master cylinder was dry so I filled it and it is still stuck in first. I can push the clutch in and roll/push it but I can not get it out of first gear. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure of the damage, try putting the transfer case in Neutral, then rock the shifter out of first. If that doesn't work, re-engage the transfer and rock the jeep as you pull it out of gear. Seems like the "Dogs" or synchro aren't aligned or meshing right. There are a few things you can do.

Did you bleed the slave cylinder ? Simply adding fluid to the master cylinder once the system leaks all of the fluid out , will not make the system operate with-out bleeding the slave cylinder
