If you're coming out of 4lo put your transmission in neutral. See if that helps.

Check the linkage. Sounds like you may have pulled the bushing out.

Mine was stuck in 4lo when I got it.
The previous owner neglected to tell me that when I bought it, the engine was in pieces.
Heres what I found inside.

Busted/worn shift fork.
If that is the issue do not replace it with another aluminum fork, there is a steel one
that was used in some cases. Thats what I used so I would not have this issue again.

my cousins GC does this everyonce and a while. he puts the tcase in 2wd then backs up in reverse while swerving left and right till it went into 2wd. usually took a distance to get (like a city block or so). dont know if that'll work for u but it does for him.

Straight road, preferably dirt but not absolutely necessary, at about 25 MPH, pull lever into desired HIGH range, tap the gas and let off and tap again.

yeah sometimes mine gets stuck and slamming it into reverse always throws it back into 2wd.

They're not that fragile. They're 4WDs for crying out loud.
