stuck in 4wd

Default stuck in 4wd

i was out wheeling today and when i go to head home i cant get my jeep out of 4wd i have no clue where to start its my first 4x4 so im realy new to everything

Will shifter physically move or is that what is stuck?

If you're coming out of 4lo put your transmission in neutral. See if that helps.

the shifter will move but its still in 4wd ive tryed everything anytime i put it in 4wd i have the tranny in neutral i am clueless

Check the linkage. Sounds like you may have pulled the bushing out.

the linkage on the t case moves but it was hard to see cause its night time ill have to go look tomorrow with some light

Mine was stuck in 4lo when I got it.
The previous owner neglected to tell me that when I bought it, the engine was in pieces.
Heres what I found inside.

Busted/worn shift fork.
If that is the issue do not replace it with another aluminum fork, there is a steel one
that was used in some cases. Thats what I used so I would not have this issue again.

when i got mine it was fine i used 4wd a few times and never had a problem but today it got stuck in 4wd hi part time i put the shifter in 2wd but its still in 4wd part time and i dont want to drive on the road like that and mess anything up

my cousins GC does this everyonce and a while. he puts the tcase in 2wd then backs up in reverse while swerving left and right till it went into 2wd. usually took a distance to get (like a city block or so). dont know if that'll work for u but it does for him.

Straight road, preferably dirt but not absolutely necessary, at about 25 MPH, pull lever into desired HIGH range, tap the gas and let off and tap again.

yeah sometimes mine gets stuck and slamming it into reverse always throws it back into 2wd.

They're not that fragile. They're 4WDs for crying out loud.
