Cool! You caught your CPS at a .2. Progress! Btw, I had a "no start" today It fired after unplug/replug of the CPS. I had just jumped a stranded guy on a Bike (4 times), before he rode away without stalling it. Later, on a cheap meter I saw a .3 from the Echlin I put in a couple of years ago. I'll double check with a meter that reads 100ths here soon enough....

Ok, so replacing the CPS didn't help at all. It's still doing the same thing. The first thing I'm going to do next is a compression test. I know that's really the first thing I should've done, but I was hoping that it was something small and easy. I noticed something today while I had it running, for the short time it will actually run, there was what I am assuming smoke coming from the crankcase, the oil filler hole to be more precise.

When you replaced the CPS did you route the wire so it can't melt like that again? Everything is red hot on these engines so getting wires out of the way of hot items is tricky. I put a new CPS in, proudly got the wife in the vehicle to show her how good it was running and then it started to cut out while driving around the block. The wire had found it's way to the exhaust manifold and melted on to it causing the short. I've zip-tied mine in several spots to keep it secure.
I'm still thinking you have a grounding issue that causes it to act up when your Jeep warms up or jiggles. Compression issues don't normally cause no-start issues-they usually just show up as no power when under load.

Yes, this time I made sure it can't touch the exhaust manifold.
Ok. Well when I start it, it makes weird sounds and it won't run very well, don't know if it's something mechanical or not.

Thank the lord in the heavens above. I got it running.
I took off the exhaust from where the cat connects back, and I started it and it ran fine. The cat melted and was causing a huge exhaust restriction.
That's a piece out of the cat.
So now I'm going to go cat-less because I don't have emissions testing on it anymore. Thanks for all the help everybody. Y'all are great.
