Default strange happenings with coolant and white smoke

I think my Jeep is haunted. It's certainly scaring me. Every once in a while and a couple of times a week I will be driving and suddenly white smoke starts billowing out of the hood and a strong burning smell emits through the car. I have always stopped immediately to check under there but the smoking has stopped by that point and nothing noticable has happened. The Jeep is not overheating either because I can continue to drive after with no problems.

Last week I was checking the oil and noticed the overflow hose from the radiator to the reservoir had popped off at the radiator neck and my coolant had dropped significantly. I put it back on and zip tied it to the neck. I also tightened down the radiator cap (which is brand new) so it was nice and snug.

There is no sign of a radiator leak anywhere and no puddles on the ground. Somehow it seems like coolant is splashing out and hitting something hot and burning off on the engine. Vert Der Furck!!
