Stock Transmission Cooler?
I was doing my headlight wiring upgrade yesterday and discovered what looks like a stock transmission cooler. So my questions
are how do I know it works and since I don't have a tow hitch or wiring for one is this a fluke?

Get underneath your jeep. Look at your transmission (it's located behind your engine). There will be cooling lines coming out of it. Look to see where they are routed to. Chances are they are routed to that tranny cooler, in which case it is not a fluke

I see that you have studiously avoided showing your model year LOL.
I'm curious because I don't think I've ever seen a setup like that, at least on a stock radiator. I could well be wrong but I thought all the stock transmission cooler/warmer setups were internal.

That's the stock cooler. It was included on XJ's that came from the factory with the towing package or on XJ's that were part of special production runs (civil service packages).

That would make sense since Southern California Edison owned this vehicle as part of there fleet until 71k.

This is what I also thought But I have one on my 98 XJ and it doesn't have the tow package or (civil service packages). I don't know but maybe it was also an option???

That's the factory auxiliay (second) tranny cooler (optional). It's shown in the FSM and provides additioal tranny fluid cooling after fluid has passed thru the primary cooler located in the rad.

Funny you mention that. I just did the rear brakes and came across this difference against the service manual I was referencing. The brake pads were still the 9" pads but the springs were the 10" pads.
