I'm replacing the sagging leaf springs on an '01 XJ for a friend. He has stock sized 225/75R15 tires and drives 50 miles a day all highway. He wants to fix the sag in the rear of the Jeep but doesn't want any lift or vibration problems. This is a stock (non-up country) bare bones 2001 XJ Sport with 4x4 and the 4.0 engine.

Quadratec offers three kinds of leaf springs: heavy duty, medium duty, and standard duty. I know the heavy duty can give 1-2" of lift, but what is the difference between the standard and medium duty? Anyone have experience with these?

I searched but only found info using the heavy duty springs as a hybrid 2" lift.

I recently installed the doorman leaf springs on Amazon .. Very good deal for the price .. Have bushings pre installed and lifted my jeep right back up to stock height .. No rough ride and no bushing noise .. I was very happy with them .. You should try them out.

Which dorman springs did you get?

No input on the springs, but start soaking the bolts and bushing sleeves with PB Blaster or such. Do it every day.
Might need an oxy torch and impact handy.

If you really want to find out pick up the phone and call them to find the answer. I have bought quite a few items from them and they have always been knowledgeable and helpful anytime I have called. If the first person wasn't sure about what I was calling on they will transfer you too the proper person that can help you.

Thanks. I sent them an e-mail before asking the question here. I'd prefer to call but unfortunately my working hours are the exact same as their customer service hours (In a meeting right now haha). I might try the phone sales number when I get out tonight.

I used the Dorman's from Amazon as well. They've been on since January, and are sitting about an inch over stock.


And take everyone's advice about hitting it PB blaster now, and getting the torch ready. Mine is a lifelong Michigan Jeep and it was a nightmare to get those bolts out. You can link to my Youtube channel through my signature if you want to see the fun that I went through. If you're Jeep isn't from the rust belt, you probably won't have that hard of a time, but I'd still start with the PB Blaster now, and hit it every couple of days until you are ready to swap them out.

Deffinately plan on making a day of it .. Taking time to work all of the bolts out .. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get new u bolts and shackle bolts .. You may have to cut the old ones out

Hi all! New cherokee owner, my first post! Changed out leafs (leaves?) before. If they look kinda rusty just give up. Cut them or snap them off and replace the bolts. You will save yourself several hours of knuckle busting labor. Odds are you'll get right to the last few turns and they'll break anyway.
