Default Is this stock?

I was wondering if this is bent like this from the factory? It just seems so ... restrictive!

OK, Thanks. What were they thinking? Seems like you would have to hit something pretty darn fast and hard to ever hit it with the drive shaft, if that's what it's for.

I honestly have no clue if it came like that or if somehow every XJ gets a dent in its pipe right there. I think its just so you can flex the whole way and not hit

It's to help heat the catalytic converter, the dent slows the flow of the exhaust and keeps the heat up until it reaches the cat.

Bingo. Man, I'm not sure whether EGR or this silly crush is the stupider emissions compliance measure...

I wish there was an easy, cheap way to expand it back out while I am this far torn down. I'm installing a better flowing APN manifold only to have this stupid restriction!

Doesn't that have to be custom built? We don't have a shop that can do Mandrel bends in this town.

Thank's man, I've been looking too. Haven't found anything with an up stream sensor port.
