Ok I drive a 88 jeep wagoneer, i have replaced fuel pump, filter, ignithin mod., ignition coil, plug wires, plugs, dist. cap, rotor. The coil and ignition mod were just replaced 2 weeks ago, and has been running flawlessly. Today get off work and BAM wont start. So I check for park and dont have any. So take both coil and mod. back to parts store, they replace them. STILL nothing....... Then dawns on me maybe the CPS. Does anyone have any oppinions on this? I'ma change it anyway only $31.00, but what i wanna know is there anything eles that would make it not start randomly? Thanks in advance.

The crankshaft position sensor is probably the most common sensor failure on the Jeep 4.0 engine.

They can be "intermittent" before the fail catastrophically.

I have had and seen pretty crappy results with aftermarket crank sensors. Because of that, I spend the extra money and buy them from Jeep. Worth it.

check the plug to the cps there was a factory fix for the eariler year xjs regarding wire/plug probs
